Great Bay Women's Basketball Falls to Word of Life in YSCC Road Match
Pottersville, NY – The Great Bay Community College women's basketball team opened its 2025–26 season on the road Friday evening, falling to the Word of Life Huskies 71–34 in a Yankee Small College Conference matchup at the Huskies Health & Athletic Center.
The Herons (0–1, 0–1 YSCC) struggled to find offensive rhythm early, trailing 17–5 after the opening quarter. Despite a strong second quarter in which Great Bay scored 19 points, Word of Life maintained control throughout the second half to secure the win.
Sophomore guard Isabella Raiti led the Herons with 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Mack McNutt added 8 points and 9 rebounds. Autumn Loving posted a double-double effort on the boards, pulling down 10 rebounds to go with 4 points and 4 steals.
Chelsey Ioti contributed 7 points, and Maura Davey added 6 points and 6 rebounds off the bench. Defensively, Great Bay forced 13 steals and competed aggressively on the glass, finishing with 33 total rebounds.
For Word of Life, Ellie Rishel led all scorers with 22 points and 18 rebounds, while Stephanie Augusta and Autumn Bone added 21 and 17 points, respectively, to power the Huskies (1–1, 1–1 YSCC).
The Herons will look to regroup as they continue YSCC play next week, on the road again at CMCC and then at home on Sunday, Nov 16th against Albany College of Pharmacy.
